The SMC Devens site is focused on Drug Delivery devices such as self-injection pens and inhalers; diagnostic devices for large laboratories as well as point-of-care test cartridges for clinic, office, and remote locations. All products have molded components, which is a core competency of SMC. We have multiple customers and multiple products, all which save and improve lives.

As a medical device contract manufacturer, we are the manufacturing arm of companies who own the product and patent. Those companies, our customers, sell their products to hospitals and doctors, sometimes for use in surgery, or a clinic or laboratory, or as part of a prescription, such as a drug delivery device.

Environmental Awareness
Environmental sustainability is important to SMC. All plastic scrap is recycled on the secondary market, meaning nothing goes to a landfill. Other resource management includes: corrugate/paper recycling; closed-process cooling system with a free cooler during winter; oil recycling;
multi-stage compressed air system with demand control; and electric servo-driven molding machines. SMC is a member of the ENERNOC power grid demand management system.
